I [agreed to be on the GFL board] because of my friendship with and respect for the person who asked me, the fact that I had quite a few CLOSE friends who were affected by the epidemic—many who have been living with AIDS for over 20 years, the knowledge that my company was in the position to be able to affectively contribute to the GFL effort, and the fact that I wanted to be involved with an effort that allowed me to work on the board with industry peers who I liked and admired.

In personal terms, I have loved being involved in an industry effort with the people I’ve met while on the board. It is personally rewarding to contribute to a cause that is close to many friends affected by AIDS.
