NY NOW Cares Benefits Gift for Life Initiatives

November 14, 2018 — Gift for Life, the gift and home industries’ charitable organization, announced today that two of its beneficiaries – LIFELINE for Feeding America and DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS – will be the recipients of funds raised through NY NOW Cares, a new initiative which fosters community between market registrants and noteworthy charitable causes by giving back.

In connection with the winter 2019 edition of NY NOW, running February 3-6, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, NY NOW will donate $1 for each qualified buyer registration submitted in November and December via a special web link, nynow.market/cares.

During the month of November, funds raised will benefit LIFELINE, a gift and home industry initiative to help Feeding America fund food in times of crisis; and beginning on December 1 (World AIDS Day), and through year-end, funds raised will benefit DIFFA.

“NY NOW is a long-time supporter of Gift for Life and a Presenting Sponsor for our annual Party for Life fundraiser. We’re delighted to extend our partnership with NY NOW, and their parent company Emerald Expositions, on this unique new fundraising initiative,” said George Kacic, Gift for Life Chair.  “We are grateful that NY NOW Cares selected LIFELINE and its beneficiary Feeding America for their November giving; and DIFFA in connection with World AIDS Day on December 1 for their December donation.

“We recognize that attending Market is an investment for our attendees and we want to share with them the sense of community and the importance of giving back,” said Amy Loewenberg, NY NOW Buyer Relations Manager. “NY NOW Cares and our support for Gift for Life is just one of the many ways that we continue to grow and foster our community for good.”

Each year, Gift for Life hosts events throughout the U.S. benefitting DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. The primary mission of Gift for Life and DIFFA is to raise funds and awareness to flight HIV/AIDS. With Gift for Life’s help, DIFFA granted $331,500 last year to 31 organizations providing HIV/AIDS service and education programs nationwide. In 2008, Gift for Life selected DIFFA: Design Industrie Foundation Fighting AIDS, one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS service and education programs in the U.S., as its main charity partner. Since its founding in 1984, DIFFA has mobilized the immense resources of the design communities to provide more than $44 million to hundreds of AIDS organizations nationwide. In 2017, DIFFA granted $331.500 to 31 organizations nationwide. More information is available at www.giftforlife.org and at www.diffa.org.

Gift for Life launched LIFELINE, an immediate-response initiative to fund nationwide humanitarian relief efforts in times of crisis, in October 2017 to provide food and water to communities directly affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria and the California fire disasters. All funds raised through LIFELINE will be funneled to in-need communities through Feeding America, the nation’s leading hunger-relief charity, with a nationwide network of 200 food banks providing food to more than 46 million people through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs in communities across America. Feeding America also supports programs that improve food security among the people they serve; they educate the public about the problem of hunger; and advocate for legislation that protects people from going hungry.
