Gift for Life’s Party for Life Annual Fundraiser

In support of HIV/AIDS education and services, each year Gift for Life brings the industry together for an exciting evening of fun and fundraising during NY NOW®, the Market for Home & Lifestyle. During this annual event, Gift for Life presents awards to individuals and organizations that have most impacted our industry during the year. A live and silent auction, featuring a wide array of industry-relevant, entertainment and experiential offerings, adds excitement to the fundraising.

  • Norman Glassberg Trailblazer Award, recognizing an industry pioneer for outstanding achievement and significant contributions, as well as creative products and ideas with lasting impact. The award is named for the late Norman Glassberg, founder of Trade Associates Group Ltd (tag).
  • Bert Tonkin Gift of Giving Award, recognizing philanthropic industry endeavors and sustained self-less efforts for industry benefit. The award is named for the late Bert Tonkin, industry benefactor and president of Western Exhibitors.
  • Chuck Yancy Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing abiding, long-term impact on the gift and home industry through vision, leadership, product development and business practice. The award is named for the late Chuck Yancy, one of the founders of Gift For Life and vice president sales for Department 56.

ICON Honors

The ICON Honors are produced and staged by AmericasMart® Atlanta annually, in exclusive partnership with the Gift & Home Trade Association (GHTA) and Progressive Business Media, and in affiliation with Gift For Life. Honorees in four categories – INNOVATION, CONTRIBUTION, BRANDING and ACHIEVEMENT — are selected through extensive adjudication by highly qualified experts drawn from the world of design, manufacturing and product development. An exclusive GHTA/GIFT FOR LIFE Honor of Excellence is named at the initiation of the judges from the field of ACHIEVEMENT nominees, and recognizes noteworthy career achievements consistently over multiple years.

Retailer Excellence Awards (REAs)

The Retailer Excellence Awards (REAs) recognize excellence in retailing and individual achievement. Introduced in 1951 by Gifts & Decorative Accessories, the REAs are the industry’s oldest and most prestigious awards for Marketing Achievement; Visual Merchandising/Display; Internet Gift Retailing; Rep of the Year; and Industry Rising Star. As part of this very special evening, Gift For Life also presents its annual Industry Achievement Award, recognizing overall excellence and contribution to the gift and home industry – whether as a thought leader, standard-bearer or overall industry influencer.

Gift and Home Trade Association (GHTA) Auction

A portion of the proceeds from the Gift and Home Trade Association (GHTA) auction held during the organization’s annual Bridgeway Collaborative conference, benefit Gift for Life. The annual event will feature dinner, an auction and live entertainment.

The next GHTA Annual Conference will be held Nov. 10-12, 2015, in Austin, Texas.

Seattle Sample Sale

Park Avenue Agents of Seattle’s Pacific Market Center hosts a biannual Holiday Sample Sale benefiting Gift for Life. The Sale, which was launched in 1992 by Diana Park, has raised more than $300,000 for Gif For Life through the sale of donated gifts, toys, books, home accessories and more to the public at wholesale prices. Merchandise was donated from many Pacific Market Center wholesale showrooms, independent retailers and manufacturers across the country. Unsold merchandise was donated to local AIDS-related charities such as the Lifelong AIDS Alliance and Seattle Children’s Thrift Shops.
