LIFELINE

LIFELINE is a Gift for Life immediate-response initiative to fund nationwide humanitarian relief efforts in times of crisis.  All funds raised through LIFELINE will be funneled to in-need communities through Feeding America, the nation’s leading hunger-relief charity.

Gift for Life launched LIFELINE in October 2017 to provide food and water to communities directly affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria and the California fire disasters.   In cooperation with AmericasMart Atlanta, this initial gift and home industry campaign raised some $40,000.

When you donate to Feeding America, your gift makes a big impact in the immediate aftermath of a disaster and in the ongoing community recovery.  There are two ways to donate:

  1. Nationally through Feeding America’s National Disaster Fund. When disaster strikes, the Feeding America network is ready to deploy and provide support, food and supplies to people impacted.  Donate to the national fund.
  2. Locally to food banks in/near impacted communities. In times of crisis, Gift for Life will designate a Feeding America member food bank nearest to impacted communities as the recipient of donations. To aid communities impacted by the California Wildfires, Gift for Life has selected the Ventura County Food Bank as recipient of LIFELINE donations.

All associated with the gift and home furnishings industry — including retailers, retail buying groups, product manufacturers, product designers, sales organizations and service providers — are eligible to participate and encouraged to contribute.

About Feeding America

Feeding America is the nationwide network of 200 food banks that leads the fight against hunger in the United States. Together, we provide food to more than 46 million people through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs in communities across America. Feeding America also supports programs that improve food security among the people we serve; educates the public about the problem of hunger; and advocates for legislation that protects people from going hungry.
