September 19, 2016 — Gift for Life, the gift, stationery and home decor industries’ leading charitable organization, announced today that industry editors Dayna Fields and Kat Krassner have joined its board of directors. Dayna Fields is a first time Gift for Life board member while Kathy Krassner is returning to the leadership team.
Dayna Fields joined von Rabenau Media Corporation nearly one year ago, and has been managing editor of Giftware News magazine since April. Though her involvement with the gift and home décor industry is recent, she has a wealth of consumer media experience including working as editor of a weekly 40-page newspaper that covers the affluent North Shore suburbs of her native Chicago, as a copy editor for GateHouse Media News Service and as a freelance reporter for the Chicago Tribune’s suburban publication, the Pioneer Press. In 2014, the National Newspaper Association awarded her first-place honors for Best Humorous Column. Living in downtown Chicago, she has a passion for fashion and the retail business in general. Dayna holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri, from which she graduated in 2008 with an emphasis in news print editorial.
Kat Krassner is co-founder/co-editor of the new consumer giftware magazine, PRESENT, which she launched this summer with her business partner, Keb Kennedy. As owner of Krassner Communications, Kat also works as senior editor of the greeting card company NobleWorks and as communications consultant for the National Stationery Show. A longtime industry veteran, Krassner has served as editor of several gift and stationery trade magazines throughout her career. Additionally, she has worked as director of communications for the Greeting Card Association, has served on the advisory board of the National Stationery Show, and has previously served as a board member of Gift for Life. She received her journalism degree from Hofstra University and resides with her family in New Jersey.
“These new additions bring both experience and energy to an active board,” said Frank Joens, chair of the Gift for Life Board. “We are honored to welcome both and to put them to work organizing events, spreading the word and raising funds in support of Gift for Life and DIFFA’s national mission.”
Each year, Gift for Life hosts events throughout the U.S. benefitting DIFFA. The primary mission of Gift for Life and DIFFA is to eradicate the AIDS pandemic in the U.S. Working together, Gift for Life and DIFFA will continue to raise funds for HIV/AIDS service and education programs.
