GFL VICE CHAIR NAMED 2023 CHAD CORZINE AWARD RECIPIENT

Emalee Hoffman, Vice President of Sales, Orange Circle Studio and Gift for Life Vice Chair, became the third recipient of the Chad Corzine Gift & Home Young Executive of the Year Award, during the GHTA Conference this past month in San Antonio, TX.

The industry lost a dear friend to many when Chad Corzine passed away in 2021. Chad co-founded YGE (Young Gift Executives) back in 2014 with the intent to give a voice to young industry leaders without a seat at the table. YGE soon merged with GHTA in 2015 and as a result saw an influx of young executives attending conferences, becoming board members, and becoming vocal leaders in our industry. Now the YGE name isn’t as recognizable today but without this start the young leaders in our industry may not have the voice, they have today to carry us to tomorrow. Chad also was a long-time member of the Gift for Life board of directors.

The Chad Corzine Gift and Home Young Executive Award is presented each year to an individual who demonstrates a passion for the industry, a passion for their business, someone who is recognized as a future leader in the industry and under the age of 35.

Emalee shares this honor with past recipients Ryan Lanzel from Fire and Pine (2021 recipient) and Chelsea Peabody Bohannan from ANDMORE (2022 recipient).

GHTA AUCTION RAISES $3,000 FOR GIFT FOR LIFE

Industry cognoscenti gathered for the Gift & Home Trade Association (GHTA) annual conference last month in San Antonio. In addition to three days of unparalleled industry education and networking, GHTA also hosted an auction that raised funds for Gift for Life. A bevy of industry-relevant prizes, such as elevator door wraps and directory ads for winter markets, as well as experiential opportunities including use of a private apartment in Italy, were auctioned, resulting in a $3,000 donation to World Central Kitchen.

According to GHTA executive director, Laurie Burns, “GHTA and Gift for Life have had a special, symbiotic, relationship for the last 18 years. We’re delighted to continue to support this important industry charity and its efforts to combat crisis-related food insecurity.”

Special thanks to GHTA Auction co-chairs RaeLee Walton of RoadRunners LLC and Trudi Bartow of Unemployed Philosophers Guild, for making Gift for Life’s recognition and fundraising possible.

WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN ANNOUNCES FIRST EVER COOKBOOK

A captivating collection of stories and recipes from renowned chefs, local cooks, friends of WCK, and José, The World Central Kitchen Cookbook: Feeding Humanity, Feeding Hope, is a celebration of dignity and perseverance—and about building longer tables, not higher walls.

The World Central Kitchen Cookbook: Feeding Humanity, Feeding Hope is full of recipes created for home kitchens and inspirational stories from chefs and local cooks who have fed millions of people impacted by disasters around the world. These recipes and experiences highlight resilience, community, and above all, hope.

Each chapter reflects a World Central Kitchen value. For example, “Urgency” focuses on food that can be eaten on the go, including the Lahmajoun Flatbread served after a devastating explosion rocked Beirut in 2020. In “Hope,” you’ll find soups, stews, and comforting meals like Ukrainian Borsch served to families living through an unthinkable invasion and Chicken Chili Verde prepared for firefighters on the frontlines in California. Be on the lookout for information about an exciting Gift for Life event that celebrates the cookbook launch this January during Atlanta Market. Details to come in December. All we can say, is “You won’t want to miss it!”
